Speed and Quality
Instead of using lasers, the MFC-9125CN uses LEDs to produce the printed output. It works just like a laser. It’s just a technical difference. This printer has fast print speed of up to 19 ppm for both color and monochrome printing. Text quality is a match for most laser printer with sharp and clear characters. Graphics quality is below par for a color-laser class printer with obvious flaws while photo prints are good enough for most internal business use and within the range in which the vast majority of colors lasers fall. Its overall quality is suitable for printing marketing materials in house or internal business use

Copying can be done with ease. Its copy speeds equal to that of the print speeds with a maximum copy resolution at 600 x 600 optimized dpi for both black and colored. You can make 99 copies at once and resize between 25 to 400 percent.

The MFC-9125CN comes with a color flatbed scanner with 35-page automatic document feeder. You can scan and email as the attachment or scan directly to a network folder or FTP site. Scans can be saved in different formats such as TIFF, BMP, MAX, JPG and PDF.

The fax is just as useful, holding up to 500 sheets in memory with a speed of 33.6 kbps. It also comes with full duplex faxing. Moreover, you can fax either from the printer’s keypad or from your computer (PC Fax).

Ease of use
It comes with LCD with 2-line monochrome display which may be a little bit hard to read but the menu itself is easy to use. This printer offers a built-in Auto Document Feeder with a maximum of 35 pages for scanning, copying and faxing multi-page documents but lacks an automatic duplexer for printing on both sides of a sheet of paper.

Paper handling
The MFC-9125CN has an adjustable 250-sheet letter/legal paper tray and a single-sheet manual feed slot. This printer is compatible with many different types of paper, including plain paper, bond paper, recycled paper, label and envelope. A top-loading design makes it easy to install and replace toner cartridges. The printer comes with 1,000-page starter toner cartridges. Even if you do use the system a lot you will find that you can generate a high number of prints and copies before needing to replace the toner.

Connectivity
The MFC-9125CN can connect to a PC via high speed USB cable or to a network via Ethernet. Both are simple to set up and allow users to print from their computer with ease. It is compatible with the Brother iPrint&Scan app, which allows you to print or scan from an Apple, Android, or Windows 7 Phone mobile device on the same wireless network However, it lacks port for USB thumb drive as well as memory-card reader.

I should preface this review with the fact that I am a computer consultant with advanced knowledge of computer equipment and printers. I was impressed with this unit’s features and price. Out of the box this unit worked flawlessly. The machine is rather large, but does not take up a lot of room. It’s footprint is very compact for a color laser printer. I went through a battery of tests to verify that all functions worked. There were no problems. Set up was a breeze. I have several computers on the network and they all connected without problem. This unit is essentially the same as the 9325cw only without the annoying wireless networking option. I felt it was not worth the extra cost as I don’t consider wireless printers to be reliable or fast enough for a small office. After months of non-use, color inkjet cartridges dry up, requiring an expensive trip to your local Staples for ink cartridges just to print a few color documents. Pros on this unit: - Its fast. First page out in B&W or color is quick.. Subsequent pages spit out very fast as well. - I’ve generally found Brother products to be superior to others such as HP – even though HP tends to be more expensive. Cost per page is a calculation of how much it costs to print one single page. Calculating the cost of printing per page before buying a printer, you can ensure whether or not you are able to save money in the long run.

Cost per page = Price of ink cartridge / Page yield
